Words by Marios Stamos
It’s been over a year since NEMO won Eurovision and became the first non-binary winner in the contest’s history. Ever since then, we’ve been waiting for their first fully fledged project, and the wait is almost over.
NEMO’s debut album “Arthouse” is dropping on 10 October 2025 via Island EMI, and they’re more than ready to prove that winning Eurovision was just the opening act of a magical journey.
The Swiss artist began their musical journey at the age of three, learning violin, piano, and the drum machine before embarking on opera training from nine to thirteen. Between 2017 and 2018, they racked up five Swiss Music Awards, winning a record four in 2018 alone. But it was “The Code“ that gave Switzerland its first Eurovision victory in 36 years and catapulted NEMO onto the global stage.
Now, with hundreds of millions of streams under their belt, they’re using a much bigger brush to paint an even bigger picture.
“Arthouse” spans 14 tracks, including their Eurovision winner alongside recent singles like “Unexplainable” and the club-ready powerhouse “Eurostar.” The collection showcases NEMO’s dazzling range, from electric pop eruptions like “Casanova” to their newest glam pop anthem “God’s a Raver,” which feels like a mission statement wrapped in party-starting beats.
“If there’s a God, she’s definitely a raver!” NEMO said while beaming with their infectious smile. The new single bursts with lust for life, dedicating itself to club culture, community, love, and euphoria. Funky beats fuse with an exuberant piano hook and heavenly string parts, all elevated by NEMO’s incomparable vocals to form an instantly captivating party anthem. “I believe God is one of us,” they explain. “I’m pretty sure she would have a lot of fun in my ‘Arthouse.’ She’s most definitely on my guest list.”
That playful invitation reveals the deeper philosophy behind “Arthouse.” It’s not just an album title, but NEMO’s joyful revolt against an increasingly conformist world that loves to exclude, discriminate, and divide. They envision it as part utopian mindset, part safe space, part think tank, and part blasting house party. A place where encounters and exchanges happen naturally, but there’s also plenty of room for the most important things: soul-searching and self-discovery.
It can be hard to stay hopeful when bad things keep happening over and over again, but this record feels like there’s finally something to be hopeful about. NEMO has long advocated for inclusivity and representation throughout music and society, and they’re building something that breaks down every wall instead of putting people in boxes. In a world determined to divide, “Arthouse” promises to be both the party and the revolution, and honestly, that’s exactly what pop music should be and needs to be.
All songs were written in collaboration with renowned musicians and songwriters Jez Ashurst (Little Mix, Leona Lewis, Maisie Peters), Maegan Cottone (Britney Spears, Kylie Minogue, Post Malone), Sacha Rudy, Mia Gladstone, Liam Maye, and PomPom (John Legend, Noah Cyrus, Suki Waterhouse) across sessions in London and Paris.
