musicDutch Mustard London show review

Words By Natalia Woźniak

Dutch Mustard’s first-ever headline tour has already proven to be something special. Frontwoman Sarah-Jayne Riedel’s voice and stage presence blew everyone away, the kind that makes you want to listen to her all over again. From the moment she stepped on stage, the band had the room completely under their spell.

On August 30th, I went to see Dutch Mustard at The Lexington in London. Honestly, I went in with no expectations. I hadn’t even heard of the band before. But by the end of the night, I walked out a massive fan.

Dutch Mustard opened their set with A Song For Dreamers, taken from their EP An Interpretation of Depersonalisation. From the very first notes, the crowd was transported into Dutch Mustard’s own little world, a dreamy, lucid space where reality and imagination seemed to meet.

Midway through the set, the band announced they were working on a brand-new album, sending a buzz of excitement through the room. They even treated us to a preview of what’s to come with a new track, You Broke Me Into Pieces.

But the real highlight for me was Life. The energy during that song was incredible. The entire room was moving, dancing, and singing along while Dutch Mustard absolutely owned the stage.

If you haven’t heard of Dutch Mustard before, I can’t recommend them enough. Check them out, and who knows, maybe next time we’ll run into each other at one of their gigs.
