The Cribs took centre stage at Truck Festival on Friday, turns out watching them in action at a Festival is an electric experience.

The Cribs arrived on the main stage at 6:15 pm on Friday, ready to play a 45-minute set for an eager crowd.  Walking out, they immediately played ‘Dark Luck’ from their most recent album, which was released at the start of this year, called ‘Selling A Vibe’. The sound on this song, with its stop-start introduction, practically woke the audience into dance, with crowd members beginning to shout the lyrics back to the band. 

The festival was roaring to go and busy with everyone in the arena, whether it was for this performance or just for some dinner. People listened from queues, swayed side-to-side, and throughout their time on stage, the already large crowd got larger; the band had captured everyone’s attention through their sound. 

They continued on the energy with songs like ‘Hey Scenesters!’ and ‘Never The Same’, which have fast-beat rhythms and so make them the perfect songs to jump to; the people in the centre of the audience thought so too.

After these songs, lead singer Gary Jarman spoke to the excited crowd about the past of Truck Festival, and how they played it back in 2004 when it looked entirely different compared to how it looks now. A blast from the past was a great way to start playing the song that came next- the band went on to play ‘We Share The Same Skies’.

The performance overall was lively and passionate, with the crowd reflecting these same values. To round off their set, the band played classics of theirs, such as ‘Men’s Needs’, which attracted more fans to sing back at the band and as a finale, ‘Be Safe’ with the iconic Lee Ranaldo voice track running in the background. The crowd swayed, the crowd jumped, and the crowd sang along during the song as the performance slowly came to an end. 

The appreciation on the faces of the band could be seen easily. Before walking off the stage, Gary Jarman stood at his microphone, looked at the crowd and said: “lots of love”.

Yet another amazing evening in the presence of The Cribs.
