Founded in 2022 by Annabelle Barton, Size__A began as a luxury petite clothing brand built specifically for women 5’4 and under. The brand evolved through the years into inclusive label flashing focus on exploring one’s identity by gender-fluid styling. Adjustable waists. Hemline control. Garments that actually understand proportions instead of punishing them.
I first stumbled across Size__A while scrolling TikTok one freezing January evening. It immediately caught my attention as I saw Annabelle – the founder of the brand – showing her sewing diaries. Being a DIY, sewing girlie myself I knew I had to act fast as London Fashion Week was coming big time. That’s how STARFREAK TEAM landed on a very special showcase of show-stopping silhouettes and experimental designs. The casting for the show was done through TikTok which let the designer include every type of body and beauty.
This season, Size__A interrogates the tension between who we are and who we perform for. The collection speaks directly to modern working life, where personal branding and constant need to do better quietly colonizes our private identities. Anti-fit tailoring rejects the idea that being “put together” must equal being compressed into socially approved lines. Whether it’s exaggerated proportions, delicate lace or wet, almost frozen-like statues.
The collection aruges with the idea that you are always curated. It inspires to look deeper into your soul and listen to it. Who you want to be today? What role are you going to play? The garments sit right in that uncomfortable in-between. Because you can be whoever you like, it’s your own story to tell.
It’s about how well you recognize yourself in the mirror everyday.
Because we’re all dressing for a public self.
The question is whether we can see the private one underneath.
