Sofia & The Antoinettes Releases New Single “INTROSPECTION” Ahead of UK Tour With Lola Young.

Words by Paula Zawicka

Debut EP WOMEN WHO LOVE TOO MUCH” arrives September 26th – available to pre-save now.

The London-based artist Sofia & The Antoinettes returns with her latest single, “INTROSPECTION, a soul-searching track that dives deep into themes of identity. Co-written and produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Rob Bisel, the song is a personal exploration, full of unique details, inviting listeners to join Sofia in her signature lyrical world of poets and romance.

Released alongside a striking music video directed by long-time collaborator and artist Joan Horrach, the visual captures Sofia performing under a spotlight onstage in a grand theatre. Her vivid lyricism, distinctive vocal ability, and magnetic presence take centre stage.

Starting a residency at Bar Doña in Stoke Newington under the concept of Women Who Love Too Much, inspired by Robin Norwood’s 1985 classic, Sofia interchanges female emotion and destruction with every performance – Women Who Cry Too Much, Women Who Smoke Too Much, and Women Who Think Too Much. It is under this concept that Sofia titles her stunning debut EP “Women Who Love Too Much,” set for release on September 26th.

This autumn, Sofia will bring her poignant catalogue to stages across the UK as she joins Lola Young on tour. Following the release of “INTROSPECTION,” she will also be Jess Iszatt’s Featured Artist on BBC Introducing in London.

Sofia’s music is written for women who find themselves drawn to painful relationships, who feel things deeply, and romanticise the ordinary. Influenced by artists and poets including Leonard Cohen, Lana Del Rey, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Sylvia Plath, Sofia is meticulous with her lyricism. She describes her output as “existentialism in high heels.”

After debuting with the heartfelt single “Matthew” in 2024, Sofia started turning love letters into songs.

“I’ve been avoiding writing about you / but how are you Matthew? You felt a little like Vegas / so I went and put my money all on you”

In last month’s release, “Spiralling,” she offers another moment of lyrical intimacy:

“I could walk you home the long way tonight / I could write you a love song, only if you like / I’ve been talking about you to God, and she thinks you’re nice.”

“God in my world is a woman,” Sofia shares, “and the weakness or softness we possess is a weapon.”

If Sofia Coppola and David Lynch met at a flea market, and bought a dead woman’s letters of love and wrote a script together, you might find something that resembles Sofia & The Antoinettes: a startling new talent.
